Rocks may seem like boring, static objects—until you discover that a rock can spark a fire, glow in the dark, and provide shelters of all shapes and sizes. Laura Purdie Salas's lyrical rhyming text and Violeta Dabija's glowing illustrations show how rocks decorate and strengthen the world around them.

A Rock Can Be . . . (Millbrook Picture Books), by Laura Purdie Salas

From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 2—As they did in A Leaf Can Be…(2012) and Water Can Be… (2014), Salas and Dabija have teamed up for this third imaginative creation. Simple rhymes and verses relate various aspects of a rock, explaining how it can be used as "a hopscotch marker" or as a "fire sparker." Listeners meanwhile absorb delicious synonyms and adjectives for a rock that they may have originally thought of as an ordinary object. To help augment their imaginations and knowledge, there are appended pages where children can find a glossary, as well as learn additional facts, such as how rocks can be used to create harbors or how chickens swallow pebbles to help digest their food. Dabija uses traditional as well as digital techniques to illustrate with a bright, colorful palette that is appealing to children. Purchase for your rock hounds or where the earlier books in this series are popular.—Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA

By micdeebee Hooray for another wonderful read-aloud in Laura Purdie Salas' award-winning "Can Be..." series with illustrator Violeta Dabija. I'm just sad that this will be the last in the series. For anyone who might think rocks are boring, they should think again. Once you read this book, you'll discover that rocks play all kinds of important roles in our world. Dinosaur bone or stepping stone, hopscotch marker or fire sparker... with rhyming couplets that are clever and vibrant, and illustrations that are rich and absorbing, children will be not only engaged, but captivated. What's more, at the back of each book is a kid-friendly informational guide that elaborates on each of the things rocks and water and leaves can be, as well as a glossary, and recommended further reading. A Rock Can Be... easily meets the same high standards set by the first two books in the series: A Leaf Can Be... and Water Can Be.... If you don't yet own copies of those, you should probably do yourself a favor and purchase all three!

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A Rock Can Be . . . a conversation starter. By treefrog4 This third book in the series (A LEAF CAN BE, WATER CAN BE) proves again how inventive Laura Purdie Salas' poetic mind can be. Each page of this delightful book opens our eyes to the beauty and possibility of the humble rock, which can be anything from a "lake skimmer" to a "building trimmer." Violet Dabija's art glows and sparkles with color, and she has created the cutest mountain goats I've ever seen! A perfect book for cuddling up with your favorite kiddo and marveling at the world's wonders . . . each page contains so much to talk about.

The main character went through some familiar personal changes during his journey which most people can relate to. I love love love the character Josh. He is one of those one in a million people that you just wish everyone had the opportunity to really have in their life. The lessons taught through this story are all ones that I hope my children learn. If everyone in the world took the opportunity to look and serve outside themselves like the Donovan character in this book, the world would be a much better place. I definitely recommend this book. You will not be sorry you read it.

This is such a sweet book about the power of helping others. It's set in small town southern New Mexico, so I loved that! I could imagine every scene so easily as one from my hometown, and that made it all the more special.

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. U.K. Battleships: An Illustrated Design History By Daryl Carpenter Having previously read a number of standard works on British Battleships by R.A. Burt, Alan Raven, and David K. Brown, I seriously wondered what new information Norman Friedman would bring to the table. Rather than stepping on the toes of his predecessors, Dr. Friedman chooses to take a boardroom-level approach to the subject of British capital ship design from "Dreadnought" to "Vanguard." As with his previous books, he keeps the nitty-gritty details of warship design in the context of the political, economic, and military realities of the time. I've been a British warship fanatic for some time, but even I was impressed by the depth and extent of the research on display here. The bibliography lists a large number of Admiralty documents from the British National Archives, along with original Ship Covers, minutes from Churchill's tenure as First Lord, and design notebooks.Friedman is Friedman - photo captions go on for paragraphs, and details are frequently thicker than your Grandma's pea soup. I've come to expect this, and it doesn't really bother me too much anymore. However, this book is ambitious even by his standards. People fascinated by the process of warship design will find much to love here, right down to the frustrating "can we make the ship two feet wider and gain a little metacentric height, but risk losing a half knot at deep displacement?" type questions that have plagued naval staffs and naval architects for decades. There is an enormous amount of information here on the design of the aborted Lion-class, G3 and N3 types, and 12-inch "treaty battleships" sketched before the 1930 London Naval Treaty , which I hadn't read before. Friedman's takes on the buildup to the "Dreadnought revolution," the origins of the battlecruiser, and the design of the Queen Elizabeth-class vary substantially from their "standard" telling. He also delivers an even-handed explanation for some of the more controversial design decisions, including the King George V-class' 14-inch main battery, the Nelsons' bridge arrangement, and Hood's armor scheme. There's even an entire chapter devoted to battleships designed and built for the export market during the pre-war Dreadnought craze, including ships intended for Greece and the Netherlands. This book is BIG, and I feel like I'm not giving it the credit it deserves. I wouldn't recommend reading it you haven't read any of the classic works on the subject, or some of Norman Friedman's recent works, especially "Naval Firepower" and "Fighting the Great War at Sea." It covers an enormous amount of ground while still focusing on the titular subject. The text is immensely detailed, but still makes effective use of plain language to describe complex concepts. In many ways, this book is a British analogue to Friedman's "illustrated design history" on American battleships. You could probably read both back-to-back and get two very different takes on a similar story. Now, a little bad news. Like a lot of recent Seaforth titles, my issues with this book lie mainly in it's presentation and editing. A few of the double-page photographs have gutters which run through the ships' masts or funnels. The editing and sentence structure in the first chapter is frequently terrible, but thankfully much better in the rest of the book. The quality of the plans is all over the place. A.D Baker III's and Alan Raven's work fares the best, although they are presented at too small a scale. Unfortunately, John Roberts' and George Richardson's drawings are frequently washed out and jittery looking. Comparing Roberts' crisply detailed, large-scale foldouts in "British Battleships of World War Two" with the plans in this book was rather depressing. That said, this IS an excellent work, which can sit proudly on my shelf alongside my other table-shaking naval references. The color section, featuring a number of fold-out reproductions of Admiralty draughts, including a stunning gatefold depicting HMS Valiant in 1939, is an added bonus. Some nagging flaws in visual presentation aside, this is one of the finest naval histories I've read in a long time.

By MrP Excellent continuation of the series and a must have for any naval enthusiast, as are the prior volumes.I wish it would have had something on HMS incomparable and British attempts to sell capital ships after WWI or inquiries received. The section on the export market is most informative as nations sought the ultimate weapon of the era.It covers the entire era of the battleship with great insights as to what went into a design, the politics and economics etc.Well worth the wait and I look forward to there being a continuation of the series into aircraft carriers.

Publisher errors mar an outstanding book By jerry heulitt While an outstanding book with all the information you could want design, development and service of British capital ships. I have the same complaints as a follow reviewer:1) The line drawings were small and extremely hard to read - the contrast was poor - this was in contrast to all his U.S. Navy books.2) The captions, like in his "Naval Firepower" book were extremely small and again, hard to read. The very light contrast drawings should not have gotten by the publisher. For the price of this book I would have expected better.

Rating amended.I snagged all of these in the series today, but guess what? I'd thought the paintings would render beautifully on my 8.9" Fire. Yeah, no. There's about 8 words of text for each painting, which are literally about 1.5 inches square, and a bunch of blank page.I wanted to use these as a teaching aid, but the images are far too tiny. So sad; neat books.

I enjoyed this Mexican painter's works even more so than that of his patriot Frida Kahlo By Don Kidwell Artwork that spans the period of roughly 1907 to 1919. While classical-painted landscapes like "After the Storm" floated my boat (haha) I was also favorably impressed by many of the zapata-style paintings as well (paintings using larger blocks of colors). I went on to read about the artist later and can definitely see how he would easily transition into the murals that became his mainstay. Very good book!

Pharmaceutical Amorphous Solid DispersionsFrom Newman, Ann (EDT)

From the Back Cover

A roadmap to enhance and maximize drug solubility and bioavailability

With an increasing number of poorly soluble or difficult to crystallize drugs entering development, new formulation strategies are required to achieve sufficient bioavailability. Amorphous solid dispersions are an option receiving increased attention in recent years, because they can improve dissolution rates and increase solubility characteristics of drug compounds. This book highlights and discusses the advances in developing pharmaceutical amorphous solid dispersions. Chapters, written by contributing authors on the frontlines of R & D, provide a roadmap from early to late stages of drug development. They cover topics that include: physical and chemical properties, screening, scale-up, formulation, drug product manufacture, intellectual property, and regulatory considerations. Pharmaceutical scientists using this book as a guide for formulating their drugs benefit from a number of features, including:

•     A comprehensive overview of the amorphous solid dispersion technology, which is a leading technology platform to deliver poorly water soluble drugs – a major hurdle in today’s pharmaceutical industry

•     How to apply amorphous solid dispersions techniques to particular pharmaceutical systems

•     An appendix with structure and property information for polymers commonly used in drug development and with marketed drugs developed using the amorphous sold dispersion approach

•     Global regulatory issues including USA regulations, ICH guidelines, and patent concerns around the world

About the Author Ann Newman is a pharmaceutical consultant with Seventh Street Development Group, where she provides consulting, training, and webcast services on solid-state pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical development. She is also an Adjunct Professor and Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy at Purdue University. A senior pharmaceutical scientist with demonstrated scientific and leadership expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Newman has over 25 years of large pharma and contract research experience.

While my children are all grown, I still am their father and they tend to listen to me. I believe they all think of me as a good father. Not a perfect one, but as far as what is described in the 3 Parenting Styles book, a parent who is authoritative, as in able to be trusted to be reliable and clear rather than authoritarian, as in enforcing strict obedience. They never called me permissive. Those 3 are the styles that Mr. Noot, the author describes. I have read several of Vincent Noot's books on success, being an artist and parenting and have already reviewed a couple of the books in this 4-book bundle. The book on 55 Best Ways to Compliment Your Child was very interesting to me.All of the 55 are excellent, and I wouldn't expect less from the man and they work not only for children but with adults. Everybody needs compliments. I like the one "You belong in this family." "You are important" and "You are so cool," are great too. And there are 55 of them.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A very good, succinct guide! By Ma. Antonia Amorsolo This book gives some very common sense, logical, and research supported ways of learning how to discipline your children. It doesn't give step-by-step directions on time outs or punishments, but is more of a guide to change the way you speak to and parent your children, which in turn will lesson the need for punishments. It focuses on what to expect throughout the stages of development, helpful tips on what to say or do instead of yelling or hitting, and very simple explanations to questions around changing your child's behavior. Bottom line: shouting and spanking teach children to act out anger and fear, modeling good behavior and praising good behavior is the key to parenting. It's never about the child being bad, only behavior that needs to be corrected. A very good, succinct guide to avoiding shame and low self-esteem for your children.

Suzanne - a mother with a long-held secret. Tony - a police officer with something to prove. Beth - a daughter with a storybook future. When all they love is lost, what's worth living for?

Suzanne Corbin and her daughter, Beth Harris, live a seemingly easy life. Suzanne has distanced herself from her past, replacing pain with fulfillment as a wife and mother, while Beth savors her husband's love and anticipates the birth of their child. But all that is about to change. Like a sandcastle buffeted by ocean waves, Suzanne's facade crumbles when her perfect life is swept away. Tragedy strikes and police officer Tony Barnett intersects with the lives of both women as he tries to discover the truth. Left adrift and drowning in guilt long ignored, Suzanne spirals downward into paralyzing depression. Beth, dealing with her own grief, must face the challenge of forgiveness. Can these two women learn to trust each other again? Will they find the power of God's grace in their lives?

By Noelle the Dreamer For some reason the cover stirred some form of kindred spirit, perhaps it was the colour (my favourite) or the door itself (you never know what is behind and are we not all at least a bit curious)...I first spotted a review of this novel on author Carla Stewart's blog and was intrigued by its dramatic synopsis, and the opportunity to win the Ebook version, simply a temptation I could not resist!Let me first say Carla Stewart's in depth interview of both mother and daughter was excellent and well worth a moment for you to check out!Back to 'On The Treshold'...I am not usually attracted to contemporary novels and this one is going to be the sort you either like immensely or dislike intensively! There is nothing wrong with the style of writing, mind you but the highly emotionally charged plot line brings it an edge hard to ignore. On one hand you have happily married Beth, who hopes to be someday a mum despite a history of repeated miscarriages. I never heard of Vanishing Twin Syndrome until today and learned something new yet again! This character shines with her faith and despite tragic circumstances, finds the will to go on. Beth is not perfect by all means but I sympathized all heartily with her reactions particularly as she deals with her mother's lack of sensitivity.Beth' strength, her determination to survive and to find joy around her, her willingness to forgive makes her beautiful, a true Christian. On the other end, you have Suzanne, her mother. She too is hit by tragic circumstances beyond her control, but has little faith and is emotionally dependent on others.I think I disliked this character from the moment she denied comfort to her daughter, thinking instead of her own need. It does not stop there either and I found myself hard put to be charitable.Despite my wish to be fair and not to judge, I found myself wondering how a mother could simply walk out on her child and use emotional baggage to justify her attitude.Perhaps the plot line was to effectively balance the weakness and the strength in both main protagonists, highlighting Christian compassion and forgiveness as shown in sub characters as well.My feelings were however ambivalent and in the end, I wish I could have cut the book in two and made it just Beth's story...3 Stars.Thank you to Christina and Sherrie for the gift of the Ebook! Please remember positive reviews are never requested and as always, offers ONLY my opinion!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. You will run to hug everyone you love after reading By Rebecca George I stayed up until 2:30 this morning to finish reading On the Threshold. I shed so many tears. The ending was satisfying and the story was heartbreaking and beautiful...a true work of art. I found myself having to pause occasionally to take a deep breath and wipe my face. It was an intense read, even a bit triggering at times because I felt so much pain for the characters, but I'm glad I read it. Since starting the book, every time my husband walks by, I run after him and hug him. I know I'll be thinking about this story for a long time. One thing that really kept me turning pages was the last line of some of the chapters. I kept thinking I had to put the book down and work or clean or do whatever I needed to do, but there would be a shocker at the end of one chapter, then the next, and so on. The book was very well crafted. If anything, I would have liked to see a few additional scenes between characters during key moments, such as with Luke (*hint hint* post bonus scenes on your website, pretty please), but I imagine it was a matter of writing the most powerful scenes while keeping the book at an ideal length. It's obvious a lot of love went into these books, and it will stay with my heart as I reflect on my own life and relationships, as well as the fragility of life. Now where's my husband? I need to hug him again. And my parents.

Health and sustainability have become ubiquitous topics in all realms of popular discourse. What these discussions often overlook is the fact that the two concepts are interrelated, and that their surrounding policies and practices can often inform and reinforce each other. As sustainability measures are already in place across many levels of government, there is now an opportunity to extend these principles to improve health care and health care policy. Health and Sustainability: An Introduction details how the values of sustainability can be applied to the design of health systems and the delivery of primary care. By providing a practical framework for understanding complicated sustainability problems related to health, the book offers an authoritative resource for understanding: - health and environmental rights- parallels between human toxicology and ecotoxicology- how health promotion strategy can be a template for sustainability- health science and how it can be used to support decisions in health and sustainability- how scientific knowledge is achieved, understood, accepted, and used in health and environmental advocacy, and how this relates to sustainabilityStudents and practitioners in health will benefit from this introduction to sustainability, and those in sustainability and environmental studies will benefit from this application to human health. Health and Sustainability offers a roadmap for successfully integrating these approaches for healthier people and environment.

Health and Sustainability: An Introduction, by Tee L. Guidotti

Review "Most of today's references to 'sustainable practices' underrepresent the true depth of the global problems we face. Tee Guidotti's new book gets serious about sustainability, defining it as simply 'balancing what is taken and what is given.' What comes into focus is how sustainability and health are forever linked, and that substantive change is needed before global health is irrevocably affected." -- William Leiss, PhD, McLaughlin Centre for Population Health Risk Assessment, University of Ottawa

"A timely book. The task of recharting a course to a sustainable future is great, urgent, and formidable. A clear understanding of the 'health and sustainability' relationship - and in particular that attaining environmental and social sustainability has enormous consequences for human wellbeing, happiness, health and survival - is essential." -- Anthony J. McMichael, from the foreword

"This book may be Professor's Guidotti's opus given that it sums up and extends his eclectic and significant contributions over many years. This is a very useful reference." --DOODY'S

About the Author Dr. Tee L. Guidotti is a physician specializing in pulmonary medicine and in occupational and environmental medicine, trained at Johns Hopkins. He had a long academic career devoted to public health, environmental and occupational health, and the relationship between ecosystem integrity and human health, mostly at the University of Alberta (Canada) and George Washington University (USA). He is currently an international consultant working through Medical Advisory Services, a small firm with offices in Rockville, Maryland, where his work convinced him that the unifying framework for what he was doing was sustainability. In 2015, he is on leave of absence as a Fulbright Visiting Chair at the University of Ottawa, in the Institute for Science, Society, and Policy. He is President-Elect of Sigma Xi, the international honor society for scientific research.

Book Review for Health and Sustainabilty : An Introduction By Brett Dr. Tee Guidotti’s book is a thought provoking and timely book for anyone with concerns about the sustainability of human society and the general overall health of our planet. “Health and Sustainability: An Introduction” avoids editorialization and politicization of the issues surrounding environmental sustainability. Instead, the book utilizes a rich and nuanced historical perspective of the origins of both environmental sustainability and public health to give the reader a better understanding of how these two fields relate to each other today and cannot be considered as separate from each other. In order to accomplish this, the book first discusses the history of the concept of the sustainability. This helps to provide a frame of reference of what sustainability means and how the quality of our own developed human civilization fits into the equation. Health is similarly examined in terms of its evolution from the individual provision of medical treatment of disease only, into the development of public health measures to prevent disease in populations. Furthermore, as our understanding of ecological systems matures the book illustrates how the maintenance of natural ecosystems is a key part of developing sustainable public health programs. From this foundation, Dr. Guidotti provides a perspective for being able to move forward in the public discussion towards building a more sustainable natural environment while simultaneously continuing to make inroads on improving public health. What constitutes scientific fact for the different involved parties that make up this discussion is examined, including the general public, environmental activists, the business community, the scientific community, and legislators. An examination of what constitutes “junk science” and examples of pitfalls that occur when facts are misrepresented is reviewed. The importance of messaging issues is also discussed in terms of the financial, social, and environmental impact moving towards a sustainable society. Specific subjects are also addressed on where environmental sustainability and public health are particularly intertwined including : climate change, our evolving concepts of what constitutes pollution and contamination, human population growth, the economics of energy policy, and the harvesting of natural products in the environment for human consumption. The concept of sustainable artificial ecosystems is also discussed including the sustainability and health of the home and work environment, agricultural land use, and urban ecosystems. Lastly the book provides a thoughtful reflection of the role that spirituality has come into play on environmental sustainability and how it is currently shaping our thoughts on the matter. Careers in environmental sustainability and health are also reviewed which should be of interest for readers at any stage in their careers.“Health and Sustainability: An Introduction” is a rewarding, thought provoking book for anyone regardless of their own personal beliefs on the role that environmental sustainability should play in our society. The captivating historical examples used throughout the book make it easy to read and very aptly illustrate complex ideas. It is well organized and specific subjects are easily referenced. Health providers, public health professionals, and policy makers will also find this an invaluable reference source.Brett Perkison MD, MPH, FACOEM

This fresh, upbeat, and deftly profound book joyfully reconnects the fullness of our lives and the depth of our prayer. Much more than yet another book about a great saint who once was, it actually rekindles something of St. Teresa’s outrageous spiritual impulse for contemporary readers, particularly those who describe themselves as “spiritual, not religious.” Tessa Bielecki shows how Teresa’s vibrant natural life was the foundation of her mystical one, then sympathetically explores the captivating sensuousness of her mystical growth. She presents Teresa’s “bridal mysticism”—a powerful approach to experiencing God as spouse—in a way that inspires both men and women, and concludes with practical advice on how the contemplative life ripens into “the ultimate ecstasy” through service in the world. This new edition of Holy Daring—revised and updated for new readers in honor of the 500th Anniversary of St. Teresa’s birth—will be an abiding source of inspiration to all who want a fuller, deeper, meaningful, and balanced life. “There is no better guide to Teresa of Avila’s spirituality than Tessa Bielecki … The accessibility of Tessa’s language makes Teresa’s life and work—her very being—relevant to those of us who want to answer the impulse to live a life that is both deeply human and holy.” — V. K. Harber, co-founder, Samdhana-Karana Yoga: A Healing Arts Center “Tessa’s deep intimacy with Teresa of Avila permeates this beautiful book and creates an invitational space for readers of any tradition (or none) to enter into their own transformational relationship with the ‘wild woman of Avila.’” — Mirabai Starr, translator of St. Teresa’s The Interior Castle and The Book of My Life, author of Caravan of No Despair and God of Love

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Exquisitely delicious and divinely intoxicating! By Donna Couch Recently, coinciding with the 500th anniversary of St. Teresa’s death, I heard that Tessa Bielecki had updated and re-released “Holy Daring.” Having read the book several times twenty years ago, I was happy to read it once again. This time, the experience was like slowly drinking my favorite Chardonnay. The words slipped down into my body warmly and gently, enlivening my blood, “exquisitely delicious and divinely intoxicating,” in the author’s own words. Tessa Bielecki has actually written three books about St. Teresa, her namesake, and I have read them all. But “Holy Daring” has remained my favorite. The author not only plumbs the depths of all of the writings of St. Teresa, but also portrays the great saint as delightfully alive and infinitely loveable. . .”an earth mother and earthy mystic, a poet and a brilliant administrator, a shrewd politician and a good friend. . . stunning to look at. . .out-going, cheerful, charming and scintillating in her conversation.” (3) I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to know more about contemplative living and the real meaning of mysticism. Bielecki's insights and zest for living will take you by surprise, a unique blueprint for living an abundant life.

A very readable portrait of a remarkable woman By Pat Greer This book introduces the reader to St. Teresa as a real person, down to earth in her spirituality, humorous, wise, filled with a zest for life. We get to know her, and Tessa, as strong women, leaders, each of them enjoying a rich and complex inner life as well as an active life in the world: in Tessa's words, embodying a blend of "contemplation and sacred activism." The life of Teresa as portrayed here is perhaps best summed up in this idea: "if she prayed well, it's because she lived well." We can learn much about both praying and living in this very readable portrait of a remarkable woman.

How can a 7 year old boy survive the Holocaust? How does he succeed in regaining hope after withstanding years of extreme hunger and cold, with the incessant fear of death ever present? A Fateful Choice is the riveting, true story of what happened to Avramele when World War II erupted. A decision is made that changes the course of his and his family’s lives, sealing their fates forever. Hiding deep in the foul swamps and murky forests of Belarus, Avramele endures abandonment and terrible loneliness. But with incredible courage for such a young child, with the help of a remarkable family and a little bit of luck, a strong willed and resilient boy emerges from his dark and painful past. Trekking across war-torn Europe, through refugee camps and an Alpine orphanage, crossing stormy seas and suffering imprisonment in Cyprus, Avramele (Abraham) reclaims his life on the shores of Israel.

By Renae Williams Though I am not of Jewish decent, I have been drawn to study the holocaust in an effort to try to understand and process the events that took place during this period of time. In doing this, I began to read the memoirs of survivors. At this point, I have read dozens. I feel that reading these memoirs and passing this information on to my children is the best way I can honor both survivors and those that perished. Thank you Abraham for sharing your story with us. Your courage and determination is Inspiring and is a reminder that tragedy can be used to propell us forward, instead of merely holding us down.

Well written, and uplifting By AngelM Thank you for sharing your story, it amazes me that a story about surviving the Holocaust can be so uplifting. This memoir puts such a spotlight on the years after the war, unlike some that I've read. I enjoyed knowing that not only did the author survive the immediate trials, but that he thrived in his life afterward. I can not begin to imagine the pain and haunting shadow those horrible times would leave with a person, but just looking at his smiling family is evidence that there is an inner light in him that he has shared with his family.I loved hearing about how family rebuilds itself. This story isn't just about survival. It's about living and thriving. This is a message that applies to every single person who's walked through some trauma and had to rebuild their lives. Not all traumas are on the same scale, but the message and lesson still applies. Not least of all, I was touched and saddened as I looked at his family photos and reflected that for one choice here or there none of these people would exist. He may have ended up in the other group and died at the hands of Nazis. His two daughters, and four grandchildren wouldn't have been born. For each of his siblings lost there is also a lost second and third generation. For each person they killed in that holocaust there is an uncountable loss. It's unbelievable, and even more unbelievable that hatred like that continues in genocidal actions all over the world.

I would heartily recommend this book to all. This book causes emotional pain, that a young boy could go through so much, for so long and come out so victorious and positive is nothing short of a miracle! How I would love to meet this man and his beautiful wife. I would be honored to shake his hand and apologize to himfor what this whole world permitted to happen largely unopposed. I would tell him how much I respect him. For surviving and and not allow his past define his life.To live the life that he lived after the war I believe truly defeated the Germans and other anti-Semites. THEY will stand before God one day and have so very much to answer for.I desire God's richest blessings on this amazing man and his precious family... Kimberly Rose Hahn, Houston, Texas
