0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Well written, thought-provoking story. By Nenia Shellie Arnold is a new author for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed The Spindle Chair. Her writing style captured my interest from the first page, and I found myself totally engrossed in the lives of Pierce and Laurie Crane, my emotions riding the wave with theirs. I love to read a book that causes me to examine my own motives and thoughts and teaches me some new facets of my own life, and that is what happened as I read The Spindle Chair. Definitely will be reading this book again.

It is incredibly well written with the characters and story so well developed. Arnold does an excellent job of portraying Pierce, a pastor, and his wife Laurie as real people. Laurie and Pierce have been trying to conceive a child for six years with no success. After a miscarriage Laurie becomes pregnant again, but Pierce begins to pull away from her. They have a solid good marriage, but sometimes Laurie can feel a sadness about Peirce that she can’t explain. Sometimes she feels like she is loving pieces of Pierce but not the whole Pierce. After they move home to pastor the church Pierce grew up in he begins to have nightmares about his past. His biological father had given him away when he was five years old and memories long suppressed of his first five years are coming in his dreams. He can’t share the darkness with Laurie, and it’s destroying their marriage. Laurie has imagined sharing her pregnancy with Pierce and the joy they would have, but Pierce is pulling away from her and from their marriage. Read to discover how God brings to light what was hidden in darkness and how the truth brings freedom. I have become a Shellie Arnold fan! I can't wait to read her next book. This was an amazing read! I received this book from Firefly Southern Publishers to do an honest review with no compensation.
