Every Girl Gets Confused – Janice Thompson (4.5 Stars) By BnBblog_Brittany Every Girl Gets Confused continues where Janice Thompson’s Brides with Style series left off at the end of Every Bride Needs a Groom. Told from the perspective of small-town girl, Katie Fisher, Every Girl Gets Confused follows the quirky coworkers of Cosmopolitan Bridal as they cope with an over-abundance of brides following their successful feature in Texas Bride magazine. Katie attempts to balance her family life in her hometown with managing a Black Friday sale for the history books. In the meantime, the love of her life, Brady James, faces one of his greatest fears as his injury may mean the end of his NBA career. When Katie’s ex-boyfriend reinserts himself into her life, she must choose between escaping into the world of her picturesque hometown or continuing to fight for her future with Brady in Dallas. With the help of her family and friends, Katie must depend on God to stay focused during life’s ever-changing seasons.Overall, I definitely enjoyed reading Every Girl Gets Confused. Ms. Thompson remains true to her humorous writing and first-person storytelling style, while building upon the ever-fun and fascinating cast introduced in Every Bride Needs a Groom. However, she adds a more serious underlying theme, focusing on God’s consistency in the good and bad times. Drawing from her family’s own experiences with grief and hardship, Ms. Thompson offers a realistic depiction of God’s faithfulness and mercy, interspersed with her special brand of humor and loveable characters. The novel bridges Ms. Thompson’s earlier novel and forthcoming works that continue the series. As a result, some readers may prefer to read the books in order, rather than as stand-alone works. Ms. Thompson has an incredible ability to create a world unto itself that builds upon her prior novels’ characters, plots, and settings. Every Girl Gets Confused is no exception to that rule, as the book’s primary conflict develops from events described extensively in Every Bride Needs a Groom. I would definitely recommend the work as part of the series and I look forward to seeing the next chapter of Katie and Brady’s story in the next book of the Brides with Style series.Special thanks to NetGalley and Revell for the advanced copy of Every Girl Gets Confused! Thanks!Brittany at BooksandBiscuits.com

We don’t always get what we want, but God promises to make all things work together for our good.” **Janice Thompson delights again with the oh-so-sweet and funny “Every Girl Gets Confused.”Paying homage to Doris Day with quotes by or about her and chapter titles named after her songs or movies, the second installment in the “Brides with Style” series picks up the story of Katie Fisher and Brady James.Katie is still working at Cosmopolitan Bridal with her pro basketball player turned bridal shop manager boyfriend Brady. The shop is in full-on crazy mode after the public fell in love with the “Loretta Lynn” dress — the bridal gown Katie won earlier in a contest. As they navigate a busy season at the shop, Katie also is in the midst of helping her lovable grandmother, Queenie, prepare for her upcoming wedding. And in the midst of all this craziness, in waltzes Katie’s ex-boyfriend, Casey, acting as if he wants to get back together. With Katie needing to decide which guy she truly loves, and Brady trying to face an uncertain athletic future after facing a second potential knee surgery, both must learn to accept that God places each of us through many different seasons in life — some great, some not so great. “God moves in seasons,” as one character says. This is a major theme throughout the novel.“Every Girl Gets Confused” deals with many other themes like contentment, second chances, worry, finding our value in God’s love, and being an overcomer and not one who gives in to defeat. I loved this quote from Katie’s brother, Beau: “Worry doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”Thompson always fills her novels with great characters. You will absolutely fall in love with Katie’s zany family, especially Queenie and Great-Aunt Alva (they really are a hoot!); the shop employees, especially Eduardo with the televangelist hair; and new bride and customer Carrie Sanders, who inspires a Doris Day wedding gown. The author does a great job of providing a fun, heart-warming story that also packs a punch with deep thematic elements.I can’t wait to continue Katie and Brady’s story!Five stars out of five.Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, provided this complimentary copy for my honest, unbiased review.

She has a wonderful job, the man of her dreams, and an amazingly beautiful wedding dress stored up and waiting on her big day. If that big day will ever come. With her grandmother’s wedding nearing, everyone is in a bit of a tizzy. Things have to be planned and done before the wedding. The flowers, the caterer ,and above all, the dress. With everything being a bit hectic, with orders coming in; in overabundance, Katie really doesn’t have the time to think about what would happen if her ex called her. And lets just say she better get to thinking on that one.A phone call later and life as she knows it in suddenly confused. With so much going on, what is Katie going to do about her ex, Casey? Brady sure isn’t liking the idea of Casey being around again. And with her parents wanting her home, she finds herself at a crossroads. With so much on the line, how will she ever choose? And will she ever be truly happy with her decision?Every Girl Gets Confused is book two in the Brides With Style series. This book is a wonderful read. It captures your attention form the very beginning. I just love how wonderfully this book is wrote. I have truly fallen in love with this series. I can’t wait to read this authors next book!**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.
