Animal lovers in your life will enjoy owning this entire series. I could smell the hay, the fresh-turned earth, the clean mountain air. Her years living in the hills of Appalachia were full of childhood companions, although not often human. If you loved reading books like Herriot's 'All Creatures, Great and Small' because you love all animals, do yourself a favor and buy all the books by R. L. Mackintosh that you can get your hands on. I know I will.
