2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Don't blow your top! By Michigan Reviewer Very good introductory tome to the facts behind the initial Mt. St. Helens eruption way back in 1980. Not too scientific, but very enlightening. Beautiful before and after photos of the mountain. For those who are not professional geologists or volcanologists this book should be right up your alley. The explanations given are succinct and easy to understand. For those of a more professional bent, you may choose to look elsewhere, but to a layman like me this book is quite good. And yes, I, too, have some ash from Mt. St. Helens. Fun fact. So much ash was sent from the volcano that the USPS machinery was having issues. I guess I must be partly to blame. Fascinating topic and very good book about it. Carson is a good scribe.
