Nice pictures, simple lesson By Sheila Deeth Beautifully illustrated with vivid colors and happy-faced fruit and vegetables (and raindrops, and more), Steven Lioy’s Springtime is another sweet book for tiny tots and their parents to enjoy. My only complaint is I’d love to see all the fruit and vegetables named, as those bees pollinate them, rather than just a favored few. After all, they’re so beautifully painted in the image. But then, maybe, there’d be too many words, and it’s the pictures that make this book, fun for kids to point while parents read, and a fun way to teach those first beginning lessons of science. Yes, rain and bees are good for you!Disclosure: It was free and I can easily imagine enjoying it with a small child.

Southeast Texas is also humid there are a godzillian different bugs here and plenty of spiders to eat them. I was glad to find a quick reference. To be so compact, it uses symbols for some info but the small introduction section explains them. 2 species listed are identified with the common name of "spider" (but the scientific name is also included for all spiders in this chart). Also, all the spiders are given a typical size range which seems pretty generic. For example, several of them are listed as having a body size of 0.25" - 0.5". So detailed sizes of specific species are not shown. The common size ranges are. Imagine my surprise when I saw this male wolf spider on my screen and thought it looked huge only to discover (according this chart) that it was likely a juvenile since it had a BODY size of 0.5" and this chart lists their body size as 0.5" - 1.0"! So if this wolf spider spans 3 inches with a half inch body, then an adult with a 1 inch body would span nearly 6 inches?! Wow!!By the way, I was walking in grass near an air conditioner at the side of a house in Porter, TX once and I was foolish enough to wear flip flops at the time. I was bitten on the foot by a giant wolf spider and the puncture marks were nearly a half inch apart. At first, we'd thought I'd been bitten by a snake. At the time of the bite it really hurt a lot and I jumped and yelled; however, the only treatment needed was to out an ice pack on the bite. I never got sick and the bite healed within a few days which us how we figured it was not a snack bite. A snake that leaves fang marks is a viper and the venom would have certainly made me dangerously ill. The bite of these giant wolf spiders hurts because their fangs are large; otherwise, it's harmless. Still, I wear my old Army boots when traipsing around the back yard now. It seems most likely my bite was from a giant wild spider. According to this chart, they can reach a size that would leave a large bite mark.I've found this chart very helpful around the yard and garden for identifying spiders and figuring out whether it was one that needed to be killed or be left. So far, I've only found one genuine, legit brown recluse indoors at work. That one had to die because their venom is dangerous and it was in a work area. It's nice to be able to calm the nerves of friends and family by showing them that a "creepy" spider they see is harmless to humans.Good quality chart. Laminated for water repellency. Color photos. Easy to read, logical, informative layout.

We were able to identify the 3 spiders we saw on a family trip, and it's great to know none were poisonous! Photo guide with habitat, size, web, etc. Really good for the kids, although it took my daughter several attempts before she would even look at it, after a few days it was amongst our guides (Wildlife, snakes, birds, etc) and is now a ready resource. I highly recommend!!!!

The birth of one child and the death of another starts to unravel the complex character developments of all involved. The story moves from love, hate, joy, despair and tragedy effortlessly. The writing and storyline is thought provoking and enables you to understand and relate to each character. The book is a great read that gives you a glimpse of how difficult life may have been in Montana in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I hope there is a sequel. This is the 3rd book I've read by this author. Judith McDowell is undoubtedly a gifted and talented writer.

Rathbone Set between Boston, Massachusettes & Montana in the begining of the 1900's, this is the story of Jessie, the only child of a rich Montana rancher called Eathen & his wife Charlotte. Eathen dotes on his only child & when Jessie falls in love with an Indian of the Blackfeet tribe called Two Spirits it is more than he can stand & is hell bent on revenge & after Jessie runs away from home to be with him, Wolfer the indian wolf hunter is sent to track her & bring her back to her father. The story unfolds on a dark stormy night in Boston & takes off from there & is really "Jessie's Story". There is everything here, Indian Folklore - love, that which grows & that which destroys, heartbreak, pain & tears for the tragic unfolding of events that can't be avoided. Highly reccomended

A beautiful love story By rose This is an enticing tale of young love and romance, in an era when a man's color was more important than his character. I loved the manner in which Ms. McDowell writes about the Thornton family and the forbidden love of Jessie and Two Spirits. A must read for all romance readers.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Love Can Bloom Anytime, Under Any Circumstance By Blessings N' Bloggings Although an arranged marriage or a marriage for convenience may seem foreign for us in modern times it was very common in the centuries prior. This collection of stories in A Bride's Agreement is about women that enter into marriage for reasons other than love. There is also a strong Christian message in most of these stories.I would have to say that my favorite story was written by DiAnn Mills and titled Kiowa Husband. It is a story about a young girl that loses her parents on a wagon trail in 1848. The leaders of the wagon trail decide that she may not stay with the party as her parent's illness was highly contagious and they fear she may also have the disease. However they do not want to leave her to her death so decide to leave her with an American that was raised by Kiowa Indians named Painted Hands. In this day and age it would have shown a true lack of propriety if an unmarried woman was escorted by a single man, so the leaders marry them. The story continues through the trials of going west during this time period and shows how deep love can develop over time with God as their foundation. DiAnn did such a nice job of developing these characters that I was disappointed that she hadn't written a full length stand alone book. The remaining four books-Thanks to a Lonely Heart by Elaine Bonner, A Brides' Sweet Surprise in Sauers, Indiana by Ramona Cecil, Sonoran Secret by Nancy J Farrier and Love's Shining Hope by Jo Ann A. Grote are all well done, if you like the collections that Barbour Publishing assembles, you will really enjoy this one, I feel these are five really well done short stories and one of their strongest collections. This book was given to me by NetGalley for my honest opinion. The publisher is Barbour Publishing.

By Melissa This book is a collection of five stories set in the 1800’s and involving marriage agreements that may have included the bride and may not have. They may or may not include marriage agreements that began with love. The stories are Christian based and will approach a relationship with God in different ways as well as use various Bible verses or different aspects of applying Christian values. I found that with each story I was able to see myself within the pages and understand the conflict the characters were involved in. Most of the stories had the characters trying to find their faith in God and learning how to place their trust in God’s plan for them. There were other themes such as learning forgiveness and sins of arrogance, greed, excessive drinking and gambling in which the main and secondary characters were used to teach the reader. The stories:Thanks to a Lonely Heart by Elaine BonnerSteven Barnes is a long way from home and carrying a lot of guilt. When he receives word that his wife and passed away and that he must come home or his children will become wards of the state Steven makes a rash decision. He asks waitress Emily Johnson to marry him in name only and become the caretaker of his five children.Emily is a childless widow and says no to Steven but agrees to think on it. Emily finally agrees but can’t figure out why. Steven Barnes is cold and hardly speaks to her. When she arrives at the farm, she is met with anger and suspicion by the children and locals. She doesn’t know what else to do but follow God’s word and eventually she wins over three of the children, but can’t seem to break through the two older boys and even Steven himself. With faith in God, patience and time, Emily soon learns that Steven’s former wife was verbally and emotionally abusive to the point he couldn’t live with her and that she attempted to turn the town and the children against Steven. Steven with God’s direction discovers evidence proving his support and love of his family. When he confronts the children with the evidence along with friends who speak up regarding Rebecca’s games, Steven begins to heal himself and his family.A Bride’s Sweet Surprise in Sauers Indiana by Ramona CecilRegina Seitz thinks she is in love with Eli the miller’s son but her father refuses to allow the match as he is set on a German son-in-law to take over the farm. She is unaware that her father when faced with no local prospects for his daughter sends money to Germany and seals an agreement for a mail order husband.Diedrich and his father travel to Indiana but his heart isn’t it in. He has dreams of heading to California to find the promised Gold, but he won’t go back on his word and hurt his father and settles for the future set for him. He also wasn’t expecting how attracted he is to Regina.Falling for each other sets off a whole new set of problems, especially when a secret to do with Regina’s past that connects to Diedrich’s own family has his father calling off the wedding. In this story you read how sometimes we think we understand God’s word and are doing what he wants, only to find that we have become arrogant and have lost our trust in letting God take over. We have made assumptions that have displaced God’s will in our lives.Sonoran Secret by Nancy J. FarrierEduardo Villegas is a Christian man who makes a deal to marry in order to forgive another’s debts to him. When the man proves as devious as expected, Eduardo finds himself married to the wrong daughter.Chiquita has had such a traumatic past that she no longer speaks and is afraid of so much. She works hard and suffers in silence in order to make her new husband as happy as she can. Slowly she finds he is fair and will never hurt her regardless if he is angry or not.Chiquita has never been taught about Jesus, his love or his sacrifice. She has been taught she is unworthy. Eduardo shows her through God’s word who Jesus is and of his great love and forgiveness. When Chiquita’s life is threatened, she finds herself wishing she knew Jesus and reaches out to him.In Eduardo and Chiquita’s story you will see how even being a Christian such as Eduardo you will struggle with issues such as anger, but with God’s help and through prayer we can overcome anything. Chiquita is shown how truly worthy she is and how special God finds her.Love’s Shining Hope by JoAnn A. GroteJoAnn Grote is one of my favorite authors and her style of writing just draws me in.In Love’s Shining Hope she introduces us to Jason Sterling, a young man with hopes of marrying his childhood love Miranda and becoming an architect. With the unexpected deaths of his parents, Jason must place his dreams on hold to run the family farm and raise his siblings. He never expected Miranda to turn his marriage proposal down because of his responsibilities.Pearl Wells has loved Jason Sterling even though he always loved her friend Miranda. When she overhears Miranda callously throwing Jason’s love aside she is shocked. Pear decides to help Jason and his family even though the outcome could damage her reputation.Pearl continues to believe Jason loves Miranda. Jason slowly realizes he loves Pearl but thinks she loves his brother Frank. Miranda becomes jealous and wants Jason back. A twisted love story that only God can turn around through faith and trust.Kiowa Husband by DiAnn MillsThe saying saving the best for last applies to this story as it was my favorite of the group.A young girl, Sarah Jane, is traveling with her parents to Oregon with dreams shared as a family. She never thought they would succumb to Typhoid Fever. When the only one in the wagon train willing to help her is Painted Hands, a white man raised by Indians, she is told by the committeemen that she must marry him for them to stay behind together.Painted Hands has no use for the committeemen, especially the hypocritical clergyman. He turned away from God long ago and favors the Kiowa gods. With personal plans of his own in Oregon and no wish for a wife, Painted Hands tells Sarah Jane he will divorce her once they get to Oregon. He turns a cold shoulder to Sarah Jane in order to shut her out, but Sarah Jane isn’t so easily dissuaded. As the pair faces one obstacle after another, God works on Painted Hands through several miracles. Will Painted Hands give up the Kiowa gods in favor of the Almighty? Will Sarah Jane and Painted Hands find that God meant for them to be together regardless of their plans?Every one of these stories shows the human nature and how hard it can be to turn our lives over to God in faith and trust. I once read a line in RoseMarie Naramore’s book, Abound In Love, in which the character discusses God being in control but she was going to ride shotgun. That line stuck with me and I believe it is a good representation of how we should place our lives in God’s hands.Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.Proverbs 3: 5 NIVI received this book in exchange for my honest review

Thing is, I don't think these were novellas, I think they were full length novels. I finished this last night, and I must say that it was a long haul to read this whole thing. One of the stories I'd read before--A Bride's Sweet Surprise in Sauers, Indiana. The novellas were all pretty good stories, but I think my favorite was Love's Shining Hope by JoAnn A Grote. Pearl has decided to help her friend Jase with his responsibilities since his parents were killed in an accident. He has two younger brothers and two younger sisters to care for, a farm, the house; and he's in over his head. Pearl comes to teach the older girl about keeping a home and cooking while Jase and the boys take care of the outdoor chores. When Pearl's parents come home from a trip, they tell her she is endangering her reputation by being at Jase's house unchaperoned. After two weeks with no Pearl, Jase asks her to marry him, in name only. She agrees and he gives her forty-eight hours to get ready for the wedding. Pearl has loved Jase since they were children, but it takes a while for Jase to realize that he does love Pearl and wants her for his wife in all ways. The olio has a wide variety of stories to please the reader: all of the authors are quite competent in their craft and they have done well with the stories in this anthology, the characters have depth, the settings are well-suited for the plots, and the plots move at a steady pace that keeps the reader involved. This is a five star, two thumbs up book, and a cooking lesson for an adolescent girl.Elaine Bonner--Thanks to a Lonely HeartRamona Cecil--A Bride's Sweet Surprise in Sauers, IndianaNancy J Farrier--Sonoran SecretJoAnn A Grote--Love's Shining HopeDiAnn Mills--Kiowa HusbandMy thanks to Barbour Books for allowing me to read and review this book.

Review

"There is a palpable sense of excitement from the editors of each volume that this is a critical period in the development of the field. The four volumes are edited by leading scholars in the field, who have carefully selected the volumes' contributing authors for their ability to summarise their topics succinctly, and tease out the issues that are likely to be the focus of research in the coming period. As with previous editions, this new edition of the Handbook will be a lodestar for practitioners and researchers in the field."—Diane FitzMaurice, Library Information Supervisor, Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge

Unlike previous editions, this one definitely has a focus on systems theory, especially developmental relational systems theory, throughout all chapters and volumes. Thus it's somewhat repetitive on the theory side.

The Lost Waves of Time The Lost Waves of Time is the mind-blowing story of how music (the sound vibrational matrix of infinite variety) literally shaped human history. "Lost Waves of Time will take you back to the beginning and ahead to the potential that we have forgotten. Prepare for a ride through history in a way that will move you to your core. You will recognize information from a deeper inner place that you likely didn't know even existed within in you." Almost no one knows this story and I doubt academia would dare to tell it! These influences accumulate and solidify, resulting in entire cultural reform... . Review The Lost Waves of Time will take you back to the beginning and ahead to the potential that we have forgotten. Prepare for a ride through history in a way that will move you to your very core. You will recognize information from a deep inner place that you likely didn t know even existed within you. I cried more than once with a deep appreciation and recognition of what we somehow left behind. An incredibly important part of our heritage will propel us into an enlightened reality and it is patiently waiting for us to accept that math based frequency combinations, that we call music, holds the keys to understanding the depths of our potential and to see beyond what we have been allowed to claim as our own. Jill Mattson puts it all together from her heart and soul. This book is sure to become a classic in many fields of study: music, math, healing, human potential, frequency, ancient knowledge, sound, light, architecture... and more. --Sharry Edwards, Founder, BioAcousticsFrom the mythic days of Atlantis through all the histories of the major civilizations: An idea echoes around the ancient world; the vibrational power of music slowly shapes human emotions, behaviors and actions. Your Past Lives Revealed by the Intrinsic Remembering of the Music By Sharry Edwards What captivated me most about the Lost Waves of Time is people’s reactions to the ancient music sections. Each culture has a language and music that specifically identifies the region and people. It is my opinion, that the history of the people becomes embedded as the music and language evolves; this has been identified in the Templar traditions.Jill writes about ancient cultures that used secret pulses/rhythms that she gleaned through the eons of her spirit’s existence; including this incarnation. When people read her writings about a nation’s music, they begin to take comfort from the words and explanations. Hence, enlightened people identify, feel, and embrace the music of their ancestors as something very intrinsic; very familiar.Much like a past life regression, the music of a genre brings answers to this life’s existence. Many people have reported feeling like they have come home to something very familiar to their soul; the information brings tears of joy. They found their ancestors, their soul, their purpose. And besides this wonderful ancient link to past lives, The Lost Waves of Time, is chocked full of information that you will find in no other compendium. Jill brings herself and her natural abilities to this writing. It is destined to become a classic in the category of ancient music/sound healing.

By Howard Bertram After reading The Lost Waves Of Time it became apparent that we in the West have such a limited knowledge of the ‘glue’ that really holds societies together and shapes their futures. This ‘glue’ is music! The Lost Waves Of Time now offers a needed and timely way to look at history and the evolution of civilizations. It does this by looking at the effect music has had in shaping and maintaining societies from ancient times to present day.How did civilizations such as Egypt and China manage to exist for thousands of years? What role did music play in maintaining these civilizations? How did the altering of musical expression in these societies lead to their downfall? What is the relationship in modern times in outlawing music from being played and the brainwashing and recruitment of suicide bombers?Where is the West at - at present - in terms of understanding what the dominant musical expressions indicate? Where do we go from here? The Lost Waves Of Time reads like a great mystery novel … Mattson’s meticulous research leads the reader from Lemuria to the great transitions taking place in our present day. It is an understanding that is both timely and needed!Review done by Howard Bertram, Carleton Place, (Ottawa) Canada - Inventor, Founder and past CEO of Mutech - Music Technologies Inc.

150 of 182 people found the following review helpful. hated the main character. *spoilers* By Jessica Sotelo (Angie & Jessica's Dreamy Reads) If I'm being completely honest, I didn't love this book. I'm not even sure I liked it. But to explain myself, I have to include major spoilers, so read on at your own discretion...Before everyone starts throwing things, let me be clear. I love love love a good love triangle. I love a bad boy. I love cursing and bad language and dirty sex. I love an angst-ridden emotional roller coaster. I love darkness and pain. I love my heart to break. So before you think I read a book outside of my genre of choice and then berated the crap out of it, let me be clear: this was SO right up my ally. It just... wasn't it for me...First off, I hated Cathy. And when you hate your main character, when you hate the sound of her voice and her inner monologue, I'm not sure where you can go from there. From the age of 18, at that party, where Ben was nothing but a stand-up respectful, honorable guy and wanted to wait to have sex with Cathy in a romantic, respectable way, and Cathy pitched a tantrum, dressed and danced like a skank with Ben's friend who she'd never met, just to try to make Ben jealous... Honestly... I can not be Team Cathy after that juvenile display of deplorable behavior. 22 year old, law school bound Ben should have dropped Cathy like a hot potato right then and there. But he didn't.And maybe that whole episode was supposed to allude to how Cathy would handle stress later in life and act out on it instead of dealing with it head on... and maybe it was supposed to show how Ben would love her through it despite her flaws... but it dropped Cathy down on my respect meter significantly. And speaking of Ben... I loved Ben. Ben was the only ray of light in this whole dark mess. But when Ben finally, after the whole big fight, and after Cathy's tantrum, decided after all that happened to do Cathy doggy style on a dresser in the upstairs bedroom of a rowdy party... well that did not seem like consistent behavior with the Ben I had come to know and love. This is not something Ben would do. Not his first time with Cathy, not just a day before declaring his love for her... he'd save the doggy for later. Just sayin... So with that said, I proceeded to read while subconsciously looking for holes in the story.Arsen. Now, I will repeat. I love a bad boy. I will, without fail, always always always root for the bad boy in any given situation. Arsen is now the exception to my rule. Arsen is an idiot and a jerk. I get that he's supposed to be younger than Cathy, early to mid-20s. I get that he is a sexy, wealthy playboy. So do you mean to tell me that no where in that privileged upbringing, no one taught him some tact and etiquette? You don't drop the f-bomb in front of complete strangers. You don't talk about who else you hooked up with and why and when and how in front of a woman that you are friends with but secretly pining after. I don't know if the author felt that the overuse of the f-bomb was necessary to convey Arsen's masculinity, or his womanizing personality... but it was just that: overused. The overuse made me roll my eyes and it all went from being sexy dialogue to cheesy, gouge out my eyeballs with a fork annoying.Maybe it's my fault that I bought into all the hype on goodreads and facebook about how intensely emotional this book was. But it took way too long to develop, in my opinion. Things didn't pick up until after the 40%ish mark. If I was one of those readers (which I am not!) that abandons a book out of boredom, I would have. But alas, things did pick up. The drama increased and my hate for Cathy multiplied exponentially. Now, don't get me wrong, I sympathized with her loss and her pain. But to put any of the blame on Ben for why the marriage was crumbling was just wrong. He did what any husband in that situation would have done, he stayed strong despite his own pain, he tried to remain positive and he tried to convince Cathy to do the same. But Cathy, once again, decides that the sun and moon rise and fall around her, and she does whatever she wants, despite who she hurts. Now, everyone and their mother hated Kiera because of how wishy washy she was between Kellan and Denny. Cathy knocks wishy washy out of the ball park. I understand the whole loving two guys synopsis. But the whole "I love Ben so much" (blink) "I love Arsen so much" (turn page) "I love Ben"... I mean, really. Atleast mull that over a bit. It was LITERALLY, as soon as whoever she was with stopped touching her for 2 seconds, she was madly in love with the other guy. Yet she showed no remorse EVER. Atleast Keira felt badly about what she did to Denny. This chick needed more therapy than Crystle can offer up, she needs to be committed. And calling Amy for advice and then arguing with her because she didn't like what she heard... the selfishness of this chick knows no bounds. Get over yourself. I started to almost think that maybe she couldn't have a child because she wasn't selfless enough to care for one. She wanted a baby more than she wanted anything... including a good man. I just can't find it in myself to like her or want good things for her.My favorite part of the book... the part of the book that pulled me in, and the only part of the book that I had any real emotional connection with, was Ben's emotional breakdown upon Cathy's final admittance. That was heartbreaking and I cried... like real, actual tears. He would have, undoubtedly, forgiven Cathy on the spot if she had shown even an ounce of remorse. But of course she did not.And to top off my already tucked off cake, Cathy doesn't even bother to figure out who fathered that kid?? I mean, come ON! Arsen... ok, fine. He said he didn't want to be a father. We know it was a lie, but if Cathy was basing her actions on what she knew, then Arsen wouldn't have been involved with her or the kid anyway, so atleast you have the truth. But to not find out the truth for Ben's sake? That guy wanted a child and a family just as badly as Cathy did. He suffered those losses just like he did. And she didn't tell him?? That's probably more dispicable than the affair.I was happy with the ending. I was glad that she and Ben ended up together, because ultimately that is the ending I hoped for. But then the epilogue came along and ruined that. I was kinda pissed that Arsen is made out to be some kind of hero at the end, suddenly putting everyone else's happiness before his own. Really, Arsen? Where was your sense of selflessness when you told Cathy to get on her knees in your bedroom. Give me a break. And the fact that Nadia is his makes me even more mad. But whatever... it is what it is...Maybe buying into the hype set my expectations too high. Maybe I'm just a critical reader and hard to please. I don't know why I didn't love this book. I do know that my love or hate of a book is based on how I feel while reading it. I don't have to love the outcome of a book to love the story. I actually live for how many painful tugs my heart feels while reading a book. I look for turmoil and pain and heartbreak. And I know how I was supposed to feel while I read Arsen... I was supposed to feel emotionally torn for Cathy, I was supposed to feel how difficult this life-altering decision is for her to make, how hard it is to choose one love or another. But that's not what I felt. I felt anger toward her for being so selfish and putting herself in this situation to begin with. I felt utter disdain for this chick who would go hook up with her boyfriend in a closet at a party while her husband practically begged her not to. I could not sympathize with the main character, and I think that obviously affected how I read the entire story.Arsen is the fire and Ben is the rain... and Cathy should be shackled in a basement somewhere and not allowed to experience the weather.

26 of 30 people found the following review helpful. Incendiary! By Ana Rita WARNING: this book contains cheating and graphic sexual contentNow that you've been warned, let me start by saying that 'Arsen' by Mia Asher is not your typical NA/romance, in this broken love story we meet: Cathy, the anti-heroine that you will love to hate and charmer, gentleman, caring, supportive, Ben - her 'perfect' husband.' They met when they were in college and have been together for eleven years. When we first meet Ben and Cathy they are dealing with an extremely difficult situation, Cathy is really vulnerable, doubting herself and losing hope. That situation leads her to feel emotionally detached from Ben and their marriage.Arsen' is told almost entirely from Cathy's point of view and it switches back and forth from past to present. In those 'flashback chapters', we follow some important moments in Ben and Cathy's relationship. As a reader, I'm not a fan of instant gratification, but in this case I struggled a little with the slow pace in the first half of the book, but I also understand the author's option and its importance to the story development. That said, once you hit the 50% mark it's really difficult to put the book down. So, in the meantime, through her job, Cathy meets Arsen, the tormented rich playboy. They are instantly attracted to each other, he's a few years younger than Cathy and she is captivated by his carefree attitude. Arsen is cocky and shameless and pretty straightforward about his intentions towards Cathy and although he never stops teasing her, once he discovers she's married, he steps back. Despite the intense sexual tension between them, eventually they become 'friends'.I loved Arsen and his filthy mouth and I 'swooned' everytime he called Cathy - 'Dimples'."There's a twinkle in his eyes as he lowers is smiling mouth to whisper in my ear, "Chill, Dimples. I'm just teasing you..."Without giving too much away, there is an important development that renews Cathy's hope in her marriage with Ben, but Arsen remains in the back of her mind and eventually there's a turning point and some irreversible decisions are made...Is it wrong? Is it Hot?"People say that if you play with fire, you'll get burned. Well, when it comes to Arsen, I not only want to get burned, I want to be incinerated"This is not an easy story to read, it's really intense, heartbreaking, angsty, controversial - it evokes extreme and conflicting emotions in the reader. Cathy is one of the reasons for that - like I've said before she's an anti-heroine - deeply flawed, she's selfish, immature ... I think I've never hated a female character with this intensity and that's one of things I loved in this book because it presents a challenge for the reader.Another element that I really liked was this story's unpredictability. While I was reading, 'Arsen' I had absolutely no idea of what was going to happen and in the end I was really, really surprised. So, my final question for you is this:are you tempted? If the answer 'yes' I only have one advice to give you:Keep calm and read 'Arsen' by Mia Asher*ARC kindly provided by author, Mia Asher, in exchange for an honest review*Full review here: [...]

Story of love & pain & loss & heartache & fear & lust & faith & LOVE.Cathy is broken, so broken she truly believes she is a broken shell of a woman and doesn't believe she is enough. She has a history of miscarriages and it just continues to break and destroy her & her marriage. Until Arsen.Until Arsen- she had a happy marriageUntil Arsen- she had BenUntil Arsen- she thought things were perfectUntil ArsenArsen...ARSEN....ugh........I want to like Arsen, I really do. I just don't.... I can't, it's not in me.I didn't want to like him and truly now I can not admit I like him. Yes he is alph and yes he is hot...yes he is 24 years old. At times I called him a whiney littls se* sissy who complained about his daddy and the pot full of money. But as you read Arsen truly grows on you like wild fire. He is there for Cathy at her darkest hour and even though I didn't want it, I prayed it would go another way. Sometimes you need an outsider to come in and let you see the light. Arsen was Cathy & Ben's light. A beautiful heartbreaking light.......The things he says in front of Ben, I...Me...Megan wanted to go in the book and kick his balls; Which btw is exactly what I told Mia!!!!BenBen is perfectBen is wonderfulBen is swoonworthyBen is caringBen is devaststatedI must first show some MAJOR Ben LOVE. He had my heart from the first time he spoke. I am Team Ben all the way. He is a total gentlemen in public but heavens behind closed doors.... He has it going on. He is so swoonworthy and loves Cathy so very much! I want to take him a fix him and rid him of all the heartache that has been placed on him.CathyCathy wants to be a motherCathy wants to be happyCathy wants to be lovedCathy wants to be repairCathy. OMG Cathy!!!!! I want to shake you so you wake up. Ben. YOU HAVE BEN. Srew Arsen..ha yeah got that, right :)There are times I felt sorry for Cathy, I tried to understand where she was coming from. Many times I couldn't stand her and MANY times I hated her. I don't like her choices. I can't stand her for her choices. But they are HER choices. She will now have to live the life she has created. This book had me twisting and churning and squirming in my seat. I was back and forth messaging with Mia and other readers. I felt every emotion. I feel like i've been punched in the gut. I'm hurling over trying to catch my breath. At the end of the book I stated that I was going through the grief process. And it is truly the perfect way to explain my feelings. You have such happy memories of Ben & Cathy's relationship, you are on cloud nine. Then a fire starts...perfectly named Arsen and kills those memories. In which I turned to hate, hate for so many things said and done. Next, Pissed PISSED for things that should have been said, PISSED for things that shouldn't have happened. I stayed pissed for the longest. I am probably still pissed. Sorrow. Sorrow for the closure, for the loss, for the tears, Sorrow for the END.Mia's first book is to die for. If you want to sit back, kick your feet up and read and not feel a thing, well this book is not for you. Arsen will make you FEEL EVERYTHING. The Good. The Bad. The Ugly. It will make you want to scream and yell and want to fix it. You can't. I tried. This is a hard story for anyone b/c it deals with miscarriages and failing marriages and cheating. It was extremely hard for me to process. I knew it was going to be a hard read, I KNEW IT. I braced myself for it. Well I thought I braced for the impact Arsen would give. I was soooo wrong. Beautiful job Mia. Arsen: A Broken Love Story, by Mia Asher

Feynman Simplified gives mere mortals access to the fabled Feynman Lectures on Physics. Quantum mechanics is rarely taught well in introductory physics courses, largely because this challenging subject was not well taught to many of today’s instructors. Few had the opportunity to learn quantum mechanics from some who understood it profoundly; almost none learned it from one of its creators. Here more than anywhere else, Feynman excels. Here more than anywhere else, Feynman Simplified can help you learn from the very best, but at a humane pace. Feynman Simplified: 3A covers the final third of Volume 3 of The Feynman Lectures on Physics. The topics we explore include: Quantum Behavior of Elementary Particles Angular Momentum & Rotations of Any Spin Electron Atomic States & The Periodic Table Philosophy of Wave Functions & Probability Macroscopic QM: Superconductivity Entanglement, Schrödinger’s Cat & Teleportation EPR Paradox: QM vs. Local Realism Alternative Interpretations of QM

By Amazon Customer Oh, Follow Me Home, what you did to my heart. It was beautifully tragic, tragically hilarious, hilariously perfect.Jen Benjamin has this perfect comedic timing that many have yet to perfect in written form, yet she does, and does it beautifully. This isn't a story about two perfect characters finding their perfect happily-ever-after, it is about two lost and broken souls finding their home within eachother. What more can I say other than Follow Me Home found it's home in my heart.

She has a nice shop in London, but it's hard to keep it going because her mother is so ill. She needs more and more care and Pippa isn't able to cope with it all. Because she doesn't want to send her mother to a home Pippa is spending every free hour she has at home. When just before Christmas someone steals an expensive dress from her shop it's the last straw. She wants to find the person who's done this to her and she wants the thief to be punished.Yana hasn't had an easy life. Because of cerebral palsy she's in a wheelchair. She's missed so many things that are normal for other people. She works as a translator as that's something she can do from home. Her brother Stanislav is very bright and has been offered to do his PhD in London and he takes his sister with him. They move from Bulgaria to Uxbridge which is a huge change for both of them. Yana can't leave their apartment on her own. It isn't a very nice place, but when she makes contact with one of her neighbors her life suddenly becomes more active. Is life in London what they hoped it would be or is it a disappointment for Yana and Stanislav?Stolen Journey's is a book with two stories and I knew there would be a connection eventually, but I didn't know how that was going to happen. I quite liked that aspect. Yana is such a beautiful woman and she's brave as well. At first life in Uxbridge is really hard for her because she can't go anywhere on her own, but soon she finds kind and loving friendship. Stanislav is obsessed with his research and he forgets to enjoy his life. I could totally imagine him being so fascinated by something that it's all-consuming. He's that kind of person. Sylvia Atipova is great at describing her characters and I felt like I knew them.Pippa does a lot of introspection. She knows both her strong and her weak points. I liked that about her. She's sometimes too hard on herself and she could have used a friend. Life isn't always like that though and I think her situation was described in such a heartfelt and realistic way. I wanted her to have a happy life, but with a mother so ill it was quite a struggle. I think Sylvia Atipova has written about dementia beautifully, with much care and empathy. Illness is something that plays an important part in both stories, but they never become too heavy or totally focused on the health problems. I had no difficulties switching between the two stories and was equally curious about what would happen next in all of the main character's lives.Sylvia Atipova is a great writer. She knows how to tell a story. This book has an unusual international mix of characters which I liked a lot. I love it when a story is original. The topics might be heavy, but I didn't find this a difficult read at all, I actually really enjoyed reading the story and can't praise the author enough. I highly recommend this wonderful book, it's an amazing read.

It’s a novel which shows life is not what it seems and neither are the people in it when seen through the eyes of prejudice or assumption.Hard-nosed boutique owner Pippa is a perfectionist witch when it comes to expectations and her staff but then many people would be when it was the only area of their lives which they had control of. Pippa prides herself on her success in a poor economic climate but at home, when every day is lived just outside of reality, she finds herself tipped over the edge when an expensive dress is stolen right before her eyes. Pippa is my favourite character and went from someone I disliked to someone I championed.Yana is given the freedom from her mother’s attentions over her poor mobility when her brother Stanislav starts a PhD in London and she goes with him to look after their apartment. When they arrive fresh from Bulgaria and she realises the difficulties ahead she reacts to them with a maturity and stoicism beyond her years. This is a feel good story and one which makes you think as you peek in to the lives of people whose individual lives are not easy but who rally and make the best they can out of a poor hand of cards. With ups and downs and surprise encounters, this is a book for the weekend, best read in the garden under a warm sun with a glass of wine to hand.

As the author righteously stated, sometimes with the information provided by our doctors, it can be very overwhelming. I am grateful that the author saw the need for this information and took action to write this book. With this information, I can easily refer to this book whenever my husband and I are required to do any medical test. I got a copy of this book when it was on its free promotion, I am happy that I did. It is normally sold for $2.99 that was much cheaper than other similar books.

By John Grob This book uncovers all the mystery that surrounds all of the common tests that your physician may prescribe. Now when you doctor orders a PET scan, you can say "Oh, a positron emission tomography scan", that sounds great, now we can get to the bottom of the issue once and for all. Furthermore, you will also learn why one test might be better than another. For example, you will know why a PET scan might be better than a CAT scan.
